About the fair


Co-founded by EFMD and the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, the Job Fair for PhDs in Business and Management is a 2-day event that brings together job-seeking PhD candidates in Management (all areas) and faculty and recruiters from European and international business schools and universities.

How does it work?

In the morning, the candidates present their job market paper to recruiters in a 15-minute research presentation, followed by 5 minutes Q&A session. In the afternoon, the recruiters schedule on-site interviews with the candidates they are most interested in.

Why ?

This Fair is the first event of this kind in Europe, gathering PhDs from all areas in Management and recruiters from the most prestigious European and international schools.

For the 2 first editions, more than 70 schools sent their representatives, recruiters and students, to take advantage of this opportunity. China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), Monash Business School, Audencia Business School and IE Business School, just to mention few of the recruiting schools, interviewed and recruited talented young researchers to complete their academic team.

The Job Fair was an outstanding success from my point of view. The quality of the candidates, many from beyond Europe and almost exclusively with or about to obtain doctorates from some of Europe’s top business schools, justified such a long trip from Malaysia. Whilst my task of recruiting 21 new research-active academics before the end of June was a nice problem to have, it was a problem nonetheless and to find so many potential entry-level candidates in one place was an opportunity not to be missed. We have hired 4 individuals from the Brussels Job Fair and 2 further candidates may join us once they have completed their PhDs. There was a remarkably good fit with these candidates and it is indeed remarkable to have found so many good candidates from one source
